THE WEIGHT OF CONTINUOUS

Life today can be an endless cycle of carrying responsibility, the pressure to manage everything gracefully, and being hyper-available. For many, the result isn’t just everyday fatigue – it’s easy to feel mentally crowded and physically drained.

When your mind is perpetually reacting to external noise, you lose connection with your inner compass, your creativity, and your capacity for presence. Sitting quietly to meditate can feel almost impossible.

Traditional wellness retreats or programs often ask you to do more – more meditation practices, more journal prompts, more self-improvement.

The Boundless Blue asks you to do the opposite: to surrender effort, release tension, and let the water hold you.

AQUATIC PRESENCE & HYDRO-RESTORATION

Water has a profound, innate ability to heal an exhausted mind. By blending gentle dry and pool-based breathwork with the restorative power of the Mammalian Dive Reflex, this 1-day retreat provides a profound circuit breaker for burnout. By learning the soft arts of breath-holding and buoyant flotation, you will transition out of the noise and step directly into flow state and somatic peace.

This experience is a tailor-made day designed around comfortable development, steady pace, and fully supportive – not an athletic challenge or performance driven outcome.

Why Learn with Me?

When you enter the water, the grand blue, almost immediately time slows down and you become suspended in total momentary presence. For some it is a place of fear and endless depth. For others it is a sanctuary of the deepest calm. In all cases we are absorbed completely by the feeling that being immersed in water supplies within and around us.

It is this interplay between developing the resilience within ourselves to accept the unknowns of the water, whilst embracing the calm deep presence it provides.

My earliest memory of swimming, was waking up as a kid on the banana lounge with my legs in the air, after feinting from the sheer cold of the pool I was receiving swimming lessons in. And at the beach, exiting the shoreline quickly having been nipped harshly on the foot by a crab hidden under the sand. I was not a natural water person. As an adult my first encounter with an Eagleray caused me such stress that I swam to shore in panic.

I could not however resist the magnetism and pull that the beautiful blue water shone toward me. My curiosity and desire to find comfort, calm and connection in the water drove me to Greece, Italy and Egypt to learn to freedive and become an instructor with the World’s Best Instructors – Umberto Pelizzari, Stavros Kastinakis, Alessandro Vergendo, Rosarita Gagliardi, and Andrea Zuccari.

I learned to freedive under AIDA, Apnea Academy, Apnea International and PADI Freediver education systems. In 2014 it led me to start the Melbourne Freedivers Club, then my own freediving school, WaterMaarq, which over 10 years developed into a multi award-winning seal and dolphin swim tourism charter business on the Mornington Peninsula. My deepening interest drew me to the worldwide recognised Oxygen Advantage breathwork methodology and I qualified further as a breathwork instructor.

Through that history, I have always returned to the water as my place of peace and calm. In cold water immersions in the sea, it is a place that I find an abundance of comfort and a place to restore my energy and return to myself. It is through my courses and training I am honoured to share with you this same realm of resilience, calm and deep presence.

As a PADI Freediver Instructor Trainer & Oxygen Advantage Breathwork Coach, I’m here to connect you with not just the ways of learning, I’m here to help connect you with the peace, joy and immersion in the big blue that you seek.

CLIENT

REVIEWS

Clients are delighted not only by the professionalism of the course delivery, but also by how broadly and extensively they develop over the duration of the programme

Thanks

Marlon is a great instructor. It is pretty interesting that the course is based more in trying to understand what you feel during apnea than in reaching a time. This makes you feel a lot more comfortable with the training and the experience.

Arlen D

I’m an experienced instructor myself…but a novice freediver. Marlon is a very experienced freediver, but more importantly a very good teacher, the two don’t always go together, but in Marlon’s case they certainly do. He’s knowledgeable, patient and walks a good line between fun and serious learning. If you are interested in learning to freedive in Melbourne, do not pass Go. Go straight to Marlon!

Dean Laffan

Director, Red Bull

As an instructor myself (and former student of Marlon’s) I also recommend Marlon Quinn! Teaches far more than just by the book. Of all the instructors I’ve met he’s definitely the best.
