Hi, I’m Marlon, a PADI Freediver & Mermaid Instructor Trainer, Oxygen Advantage Breathwork Coach and Snorkel Guide Instructor here to take your snorkelling adventures to new levels, where you enjoy venturing underwater more often, with greater ease, and more comfortably with marine life.
My first snorkelling experience in Port Phillip Bay as a grown adult left me shaken, unsettled and consoling myself on Brighton Beach. An encounter with an Eagleray shook me to the core, I had panicked. It was the perfect catalyst to learn more about the beauty of the ocean, its inhabitants, and about how I could become calm in the sea. It led me on an incredible journey to learn how to freedive with World Champions. And now I share that passion for the underwater world with you through courses and training for freediving, skindiving, snorkelling and breathwork.
Swimming freely with marine life, as if you’re one of the pod or the school is my absolute favourite feeling. As if I’ve become accepted as a marine creature under the sea. I can dive over 40m deep freely on one breath, but nothing gives me a bigger smile than being amongst marine life. I’ve swum within arms reach of Grey Nurse Sharks, hundreds of Southern Bluefin Tuna swirling about me. I’ve been eye-to-eye with Bottlenose Dolphins, huge 350kg Smoothrays, and immersed with tens of thousands of Spider Crabs.

What sets apart a snorkeller from a skindiver?I use the term skindiver because it is the perfect word to describe someone who has enough snorkelling experience to no longer watch the sea creatures from the surface.
You as a Skindiver are now under the water, swimming around, taking photos and videos on your GoPro, 360 Action Cam or Olympus TG camera.
You’ve probably got a bunch of gear, wetsuits, fins etc that mostly work, and you most likely have a weightbelt, but you realise there’s something missing or not quite right, and you’ve decided this is the time to work it out.
You’ve looked at freediving courses, but figure you aren’t interested in going deep. You are super happy swimming about the ocean and enjoying the adventures, but need something more, something to keep growing.

Marlon is a great instructor. It is pretty interesting that the course is based more in trying to understand what you feel during apnea than in reaching a time. This makes you feel a lot more comfortable with the training and the experience.
I’m an experienced instructor myself…but a novice freediver. Marlon is a very experienced freediver, but more importantly a very good teacher, the two don’t always go together, but in Marlon’s case they certainly do. How long is the course?
The total duration is a half-day split over two sessions.
The theory session is a comprehensive interactive one with you and your instructor. Allow up to 1 hour.
The practical skills training session is typically conducted as a shore-dive and enables skills development in real-world environments. In the event of foul weather forecasts or lack of shore snorkelling locations, the session may take place in a swimming pool. Allow up to 2 hours including travel time.
Actual duration depends upon the group size and candidates.
The total course is made up of:
1x online classroom session (up to 1 hour approx)
1x in-water training session (up to 2 hours approx)
Are there any prerequisites to attend?
Prerequisites
In order to attend and complete the PADI Skindiver course the following prerequisites apply:
Be at least 12 years of age,
You must be able to swim confidently and use snorkelling equipment including mask, snorkel and fins
Complete the electronic forms during enrolment – Medical statement, Snorkelling Practices Statement of Understanding, and Risk / Liability Acceptance.

What gear and equipment is needed for the course?

For PADI RTO #6729 SISOSNK001 Snorkel unit qualification the participant must present Photo ID (Drivers Licence) on the day, hold a valid USI student number, and complete the RTO enrolment form (online).
Pool Training
Pool: Swimwear and 3-5mm wetsuit, towel, mask, snorkel, fins, weightbelt
*We recommend thicker wetsuits for the in-water training. As we spend extended time in the water, you may get cold more quickly than you’re used to.
How long until certificates are received?
Upon completion of the course, and as long as all the requirements of the course have been completed successfully and to standard (including evidence / demonstration skills competency, in water tests, passed the exam/test, then your physical PADI Skinder certification will be provided on the day in most circumstances. Must be pre-ordered!
Does cancellation and refund policy apply?
CANCELLATION POLICY
These policies are in place to ensure you, our customer, receive the highest level of service and quality instruction. As class sizes are limited, all cancellation / rescheduling deadlines will be strictly adhered to. All cancellations must be received via letter or email.
Verbal cancellations are not accepted. Cancelling a course close to commencement date affects everybody on the course. Cancelling or changing a course should be considered a last resort.
Payments
All customers are requested to confirm booking payments in full in advance of the event date. Full payment for courses ensures participant registration on the course selected. Participation may be denied to any Participant that has not completed full payment before the scheduled event and any refunds will be considered under the Cancellations Policy.
· All fees are non-refundable. Refunds are only available if a cancellation is actioned by The Provider due to unplanned or unforeseen circumstances. These programs are highly time intensive for our team and provide for very limited places. Once you have made a payment and it has been received you cannot ask for your money back under any circumstances. It is for this reason you are highly recommended to purchase appropriate travel insurance to cover you in case of an unforeseen need to cancel.
Cancellations
A company or individual may cancel a booking or by submitting a WRITTEN NOTICE via e-mail or letter.
Request for Amendments
· If you would like to request a change of date or suspend your booking, you may request to do so within 1 month but more than 7 days before the scheduled starting date of the booking. You may suspend your booking for up to 12 months, after which it is forfeited. A $100 re-booking fee will apply.
· If you would like to request a change of date within 7 days before the scheduled starting date of the booking, a 100% cancellation fee will apply to any company or individual. A cancellation fee will be based on the full cost of the booking at time of purchase
No Shows
If a company or individual does not attend a booking and does not provide notice, the company or individual will incur a 100% “no-show” fee.
Course Late Arrivals
In the event of late attendance, bookings will begin at the scheduled time. Under no circumstances does an experience wait for a late Participant. Late Participants may not be allowed onto the booking or may miss it entirely.
All refunds and cancellation fees will be administered at the sole discretion of The Provider management.
