Find comfort in the discomfort, without the suffering.

Every day that begins with an immersion into the cool sea, is a better day.

I’m not into ice baths, they often can represent the antithesis of my teaching philosophy and beliefs in that we progress further, build more resilience, and extend comfort and capacity by understanding our thresholds, without forcing or pushing past or beyond them radically.

Improve your capacity to manage anxiety and stress whilst strengthening your resilience, without the pressure of performance. Learn more and arrange a session on the Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland or the Sapphire Coast via the Deep Presence Immersion coaching page.

Sessions from 1-2 hours .

The notion of leaps of faith into ice, or into the void, whilst bold, in my experience sharing the art of breathhold and freediving, they turn one more swiftly towards disaster, and worse, little is in fact learned.

Ice baths can become dangerous when driven by an egocentric mindset of boundary pushing, rather than a calibrated, selective, and choice-based progression founded on personal self-awareness, personalised training, and non-competitive approach, whether that is against others or one’s own limits or prior performances.

Alternatively, cold water immersion exercises, in the range of 13-19c, they can help you listen to your body and mind, aiding adaptation to varying states of discomfort, and more valuable outcomes that build the ability to find comfort in uncomfortable circumstances, without suffering.

The coastal waters of Victoria and NSW, they’re pretty much ideal temperature for a morning dip. And they’re often beautiful locations to lose yourself for 20 minutes. The cool, but not icy, sea temps are highly effective as a milder cold water immersion, considered optimal for consistent practice, physical recovery and general well-being, and importantly, without triggering extreme cardiovascular stress. I mean, who wants to stress out more, when you’re already stressed!

The joys of an 8am play for 10-20 minutes in the 19c ocean, goodness, it’s like the refresh, reset and mental cleanse you didn’t know you need. And when followed by a freshly made espresso with organic ground coffee beans, phwoar, heaven!

I offer guided immersion and breathwork coaching sessions weekly, and joining in is easy. NDIS support available too. Visit the Deep Presence Immersion coaching page for more info and to arrange a session.
